Eyes behind which hides the lens, history and its narrator.

 

Luca Vullo was born in 1979 in Caltanissetta. His film takes light training in Bologna where he studied cinema at the Dams (Department of Art and Music Entertainment), he attended various workshops and laboratories and is working within a number of fields. Then returned to Sicily in his home town and from here the party its first trip from director-narrator with Cumu veni si cunta, the socio-anthropological story of a city of art and to fend of his people, where the eye director meets crafts street invented to advance the family and the artists marginalized by local companies that have expressed publicly their works and their malaise.

Luca Vullo takes a lesson in DAMS University in Bologna (Italy) on business and marketing film used for the production and distribution of his film "From sulfur to coal."

Luca Vullo is invited by Se.RES to present "From sulfur to coal" in Canada at the Sicilian and Italian communities of the cities of Toronto and Windsor.

From sulfur to coal" participate in "EtnofilmFest" of Este (Italy) and won the award for "Best Documentary".

October
"From sulfur to coal" participate in the XV Review Documentary Award Libero Bizzarri "- San Benedetto del Tronto (Italy) and won the prize "Cineforum".

"From sulfur to coal" participate in the V edition Collecchio Film Festival (PR) and wins the first prize "Men: Chronicles and memories"

"From sulfur to coal" participate in the Flower Film Festival Spello (PG) and won the first prize
Emerging Authors "Silver Flower".

"From sulfur to coal" won the second prize at the "Roberto Gavioli" Brescia attended by Gian Piero Brunetta.
The documentary by Luca Vullo, as stated by the same Brunetta, "can make a real contribution to a cognitive history, that of Italian, too often surrounded by rhetoric, clichés, omissions and removal."

September

The Sicilian director was invited to Budapest to treat as artistic director of the film, a short overview of Italian author.
The exhibition has been included within the Festival "Kulturhid", event-Cultural Gastronomic Italy-Hungary, which took place September 21-27 in Budapest.

Together to Emanuela Pantano, leads a course on film and realized "Picciriddi," a short film where the actors are children, with their spontaneity and simplicity of language.
"Picciriddi" is inserted in the field of recovery and entertainment for children of two of the districts most at risk of Caltanissetta (St. Joseph and Providence).

“Un caruso senza nome” won first prize as best documentary at the Festival "Cortiamo" Alcamo (Italy).

Join together with the Sicilian Delegation to the IV International Conference of Young Sicilians held in Mendoza, Argentina, where he was presented the documentary "Cumu veni si cunta" the Sicilian community.

From 20 to 22/07/06 will be invited to participate as a member of the jury as an expert and director of the film festival Cortodams Montà D'Alba (Italy).

Bologna realizes the shooting of his first short film "The window for rent" in Luca Vullo addition to being the creator of history, will ensure the preparation of the subject and the screenplay along with Uliano Pistelli and Rossana Ghillino.

Is simultaneously started the design and the first filming of "From sulfur coal," a socio-anthropological documentary on the exploitation of the work of the Sicilian in coal mines of Belgium.

Luca Vullo part for Australia with the Sicilian Delegation at the World Conference of Young Sicilians, called by CRASES and SERES, held in Melbourne and then the official presentation of "Cumu veni si cunta" at the hall S. Francesco del Co.As.It. Casa Italiana in Sydney's Little Italy.

In collaboration with musician Roberto Gallà, the Caltanissetta's director achieves the documentary "The Holy Week in Caltanissetta", sponsored by Municipality of Caltanissetta.

Nel mese di novembre 2005 segue un corso di PREMIERE® PRO 1.5 – AVANZATO per l’ editing video professionale condotto da Marco Gianstefani presso la Pegasoft di Villanova di Castenaso (BO).

Il regista Luca Vullo viene citato con la sua opera “Cumu veni si cunta” in una pubblicazione cinematografica dal titolo “Idea di un isola” dello scrittore Stefano Beccastrini, edito dalla Aska dove viene presentata la produzione cinematografica in Sicilia e i nuovi registi emergenti. Il libro è stato distribuito in tutte le cineteche europee.

Nell’aprile 2005 collabora ad un documentatio etnomusicologico ideato dalla dr. Giuliana Fugazzotto curandone la regia. Il progetto patrocinato dall’Università di Bologna e da vari comuni ha come obiettivo quello di studiare ed analizzare le modalità di apprendimento musicale e di trasmissione del repertorio nelle confraternite laicali preposte.

Luca Vullo è invitato dalla Casa Italiana del Nazareth College di Rochester, negli Stati Uniti, dove presenta “Cumu veni si cunta” e “Caltanissetta oro di Sicilia”, nell’ambito della manifestazione “The glory that is Sicily” organizzata dalla docente Rosalba Pisaturo.
La settimana successiva, il regista siciliano vola in Canada, a Toronto dove entrambi i documentari vengono presentati al Delia Social Cultural Center.

Nel mese di febbraio 2005 partecipa presso la PEGASOFT a Villanova di Castenaso (BO), al corso di aggiornamento e formazione “DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP ” Corso pratico di direzione della fotografia nell’immagine digitale” condotto da Luigi Martinucci.

Presentazione ufficiale del documentario “Caltanissetta oro di Sicilia”.

Un lavoro patrocinato dall’Assessorato Identità e Futuro del Comune di Caltanissetta, in cui la varietà paesaggistica siciliana si mescola al racconto di una città, alla sua storia e all’ineguagliabile tradizione della Settimana Santa nissena.

All’interno dello stesso documentario troviamo “Un caruso senza nome”, un corto di docu-fiction in cui il regista posa l’attenzione sulla sofferenza e sul lavoro del popolo delle miniere di zolfo.

Il 26 - 27 ottobre 2004, presso la sala del Lumiere 2 di Bologna, segue un seminario condotto da Jane Campion con la partecipazione della produttrice del film Laurie Parker dove la regista ha analizzato le fasi di realizzazione del suo ultimo film “ In the cut” .

Nel mese di gennaio 2004 realizza il suo sito personale www.lucavullo.it che per casualità statistica risulta essere il milionesimo domino internet italiano che ha portato l’Italia al quarto posto in Europa per numero di domini individuali.
La notizia apparsa su tutti i giornali nazionali e internazionali ha portato il regista ad avere un riconoscimento personale dal direttore del CNR di Pisa.

Il progetto “Cumu veni si cunta” partecipa e vince una Menzione Speciale firmata da Giampiero Solari del concorso nazionale per cortometraggi “Corto Dorico” di Ancona.
